What is the difference between an OEM product
and a compatible or remanufactured product?
An OEM (original equipment manufacturer) product is a brand new
item manufactured by the same company that built your printer. These
products meet all predetermined standards created by the manufacturer
of your printer.
Compatible products use the exact same standards that the original
company uses in making toner supplies. In some instances, the third
party companies that manufacture the compatibles also supply the
original manufacturer since the standards are identical and are
less expensive then the OEM product.
A remanufactured item has been previously used. The remanufacturing
company takes the original shell, opens it, cleans and/or replaces
with new components inside the shell, refills with new ink, reassembles
the cartridge with laser precision to ensure zero leakage, and tests
it exhaustively.
Many newer printers require a chip on the imaging product in order
for the printer to work, but an older model of the exact same printer
may not require a chip. Therefore, some of our remanufactured products
are offered both with, and without the required chip. If you have
an older machine that does not require a -chip, you could save even
more money by purchasing the chip-less imaging supply.
Remanufactured products also come with an option of having a brand
new drum installed in them, or have the original drum cleaned and
refinished. The print quality is the same as an OEM cartridge with
a new drum, but the price of the toner with a cleaned, original
drum is less.
